The Nature Route: Lakes, Mountains & Banyumala Waterfall
We ride past Lake Beratan and make a photo stop near the famous Ulun Danu Beratan Temple before continuing towards the highest point of the mountain pass, at approximately 1,600 metres above sea level. From there, we follow a winding mountain road towards Wanagiri, enjoying stunning views over the lakes and surrounding mountains. A coffee break with a traditional Indonesian snack, such as pisang goreng (fried banana), is the perfect way to enjoy the cool mountain air. We then continue to the nearby Banyumala Waterfall, where you will have the opportunity to swim in the refreshing natural pools. Don't forget your swimwear! In the late afternoon, we begin our return journey to Seminyak or Kuta, covering approximately 60 kilometres. |
The Culture Route: Ulun Danu Beratan Temple & Mountain Lakes
Our next destination is Bedugul and Lake Beratan, located at approximately 1,200 metres above sea level. Here, we visit the famous Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, one of Bali's most iconic landmarks. Built in 1663, the temple is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the Balinese goddess of water, lakes, and rivers. Lake Beratan is an important source of irrigation for central Bali, making the temple especially significant to the local community. The temple complex features several impressive meru towers, including an 11-tiered meru dedicated to Shiva and Parvati, as well as a Buddhist statue. After visiting the temple, we continue through the mountains and cross the highest point of the pass at approximately 1,600 metres above sea level. We then follow a winding road towards Wanagiri, where you can enjoy stunning views over the lakes and mountains while taking a coffee break and enjoying some delicious pisang goreng. If time allows, we may also visit Lake Buyan, located in a cool and sometimes rainy mountain climate, with beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Afterwards, we begin our return journey to Seminyak or Kuta, covering approximately 50 kilometres. |
